Rotation Week- Fashion & Textiles: Day1 & Day 2

Task:

I brought in an old tank top that was two different shades of turquoise. I wanted to deconstruct it so it looked different to it's original form but keep the fit of the t-shirt so that it was still wearable. To do this I cut a fringe at the bottom of the t-shirt. I then pulled on the pieces so they would look more circular and tied a knot in each of them. I decided to cut some holes in at the top of the t-shirt to give it a shredded look. I am happy with how the t-shirt looks but next time I would use a t-shirt that was a darker colour so that it would fit more in to the deconstructed theme.

On the heat transfer paper I used different colour dyes to create a pattern so that it would transfer on to the fabric.

I used different fabric to see if the colour of the dyes would change. I liked the outcome of the lace the best. I also put the paper with the dye on behind it because I thought it looked really interesting and made the colours stand out more.

Task:

I decided to use hand embroidery on my fabric from the day before. I like hand embroidery because you can see that it took a lot of time and effort to create. I also experimented with paper instead of fabric.

Paper and Lace

I added little animal faces to the fabric I used for colour testing
Start of a hand embroidered Aztec design

I tried to imitate the print of of the lace on the fabric
